In honor of National Infertility Awareness Week…  a few common myths (and facts):

Myth #1: It’s usually the woman’s problem.

Reality: According to Dr. Domar, men are just as likely to have a problem that affects fertility. Her message: If you’re over 35 and have been trying to conceive for six months (or younger, but you’ve been trying for a year), talk to fertility specialist (an ob-gyn who has done a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology). Both you and your partner will probably need to be evaluated.

Myth #2: Treatment is very expensive.

Reality: While some procedures can be quite costly, Dr. Domar says that others are very affordable (medication, for example)…
